EKU TENNIS TEAMS MATCH UP AGAINST MIDDLE TENNESSEE THIS WEEKEND

RICHMOND, Ky.-The Eastern Kentucky University men's and women's tennis teams face the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders this weekend. The matches will be held at the Martin Hall Tennis Courts. The women's teams play Saturday at 9:00 a.m., with the men's squads tangling Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

The Eastern men's team is presently 1-13 for the year, 0-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference. Middle Tennessee's men are 6-13 for the season, 0-0 in the OVC. Currently, the Lady Colonels are 4-8 on the season, 0-2 in the OVC, with Middle Tennessee standing 4-13 for the season, 2-0 in the OVC on the women's side.

This past weekend, the Eastern men's tennis team traveled to Eastern Illinois for a conference match and suffered a 4-3 loss to the Panthers.

EKU's No. 1 singles player Adam Doyle and No. 4 player Chad Williams won their matches. The Colonels also captured two doubles matches with wins from the No. 1 duo of Adam Doyle-Jamey Sellars (8-3) and No. 2 tandem of Chad Williams-Mike Hornback (8-2).

The Lady Colonels team also hit the road to Charleston, IL., where it was rained out Friday against Murray State University. Eastern was then defeated by the Eastern Illinois Lady Panthers, 8-1, Saturday. No. 3 singles player April Dixon won 6-3, 6-2, to help the Lady Colonels avoid a shutout.

"We just to need to keep working hard in practice," stated EKU head coach Tom Higgins.

"I know we have the skills to win some conference matches."
